The average session lasts approximately one hour. Reiki energy flows in a powerful and concentrated
form through the hands of the Reiki giver and the Client's takes as much of the healing as it needs.
Reiki treatments do not involve actual touching, the practitioner holds their hands a few inches away
from the Client's body. Remaining fully clothed, the Client prepares for a treatment by relaxing on a
massage couch, or sitting if that is more comfortable. The therapist holds their hands lightly and gently
over the body in a sequence of positions, each one being held for a couple of minutes. Although personal
experiences differ, some people report feeling an intense heat from the practitioner's hands during the
process.
